The Government of Rwanda is committed to Gender Equality as enshrined in its legal and policy frameworks. Particularly, the revised National Gender Policy 2021 requires all actors to ensure that the design and programming at different levels consider the particular needs of men and women. Therefore, Rwanda’s Vision 2035/ 2050 and the Second Generation of National Strategy for Transformation consider gender equality and family promotion among the cross-cutting areas.
In efforts to institutionalize gender accountability and ensure the sustainability of achieved results, the Gender Monitoring Office initiated Gender Accountability Day (GAD) at the decentralized level as one of the mechanisms aimed at providing solutions to gender-related. In addition, GAD serves as a crucial opportunity for stakeholders (including government institutions, civil society organizations, and local communities) to assess the progress made in gender equality promotion, and reinforce their commitment to gender equality and GBV prevention and service delivery.
