Mandate

The Government of Rwanda established the Gender Monitoring Office through the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda, with a mandate to monitor the respect of Gender Equality principles, promote gender accountability at all levels and fight against Gender Based Violence and related injustices.

Monitoring the Respect of Gender Equality

Monitoring the respect of gender equality is one of the main mandates of Gender Monitoring Office. 

Monitoring Prevention & Response to GBV

In the framework of monitoring gender equality principles and the fighting against Gender Based Violence and related injustices.

Gender Data & Information and Research Reference

As provided by the Gender Monitoring Office Strategic Plan 2024-2029, the Gender Monitoring Office serves as point of reference for information and information on gender equality in Rwanda.

Advocacy for the Respect of Gender Equality

As per the law N° 51/2007 of 20/09/2007 establishing the Gender Monitoring Office, the office has the mandate of advocating for the respect of gender equality principles at all levels. 

Monitoring International Gender Commitments

One of the key responsibilities of Gender Monitoring Office is to monitor the implementation of regional and international treaties.

Gender Accountability Dialogues

Gender Accountability Dialogues involves collecting and analyzing information on how GAD activities are planned, implemented, and what results they achieve especially in addressing gender-related issues in communities.
