Nadine Umutoni Gatsinzi sworn in as Chief Gender Monitor

Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine has on Monday,04th 2023 sworn -in as Chief Gender Monitor at the Gender Monitoring Office. Her swearing-in was presided over by Chief Justice Dr. Faustin Ntezilyayo.

She replaces Rose Rwabuhihi who held the position for more than 10 years.

About Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine

Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine joined the Gender Monitoring Office from the National Child Development Agency (NCDA) where she served three years as Director General.

Previously, for about two years, Gatsinzi served as the City of Kigali's vice mayor in charge of socio-economic affairs.

She spent more than three years, working as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF). She worked with the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) as the acting Director General of research, and later, as the Head of Corporate Services.

She served as a lecturer at the University of Rwanda (former National University of Rwanda) in the Faculty of Law, where she served concurrently as the coordinator of the Master's program in business law.

Gatsinzi also served as a Regulatory Board Member for Rwanda Utility and Regulatory Authority,

About Gender Monitoring Office

The Government of Rwanda established the Gender Monitoring Office through the Constitution of 2003 revised in 2015, with a mandate to monitor the respect of Gender Equality principles, promote gender accountability at all levels and fight against Gender Based Violence and related injustices.

Affiliated to the Office of the Prime Minister, the Gender Monitoring Office is established by the law No 51/2007 0f 20/09/2007 which determines its responsibilities, organization and functioning.
