GMO signs MoU with women In Finance Rwanda to advance Gender Accountability
The Gender Monitoring Office and Women in Finance Rwanda has on 7 May 2024, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance accountability to gender equality in the financial sector by engaging financial institutions to join the Gender Equality Seal Programme and promote initiatives to fight against Gender-Based Violence and injustices in the workplace.
This event took place at the Gender Monitoring Office and was grace by the Chief Gender Monitor Mrs Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine and Chairperson of Women In Finance Rwanda Mrs Lina Mukashyaka Higiro.

Through the signed MoU, both institutions committed to advancing gender accountability in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders in the production and dissemination of gender data, through research, profiles, or assessments aimed at promoting Women's use of financial services as well as advocacy. Work together to promote gender accountability in the financial sector by engaging financial institutions to join the Gender Equality Seal Programme. Collaborating to disseminate the Gender Equality Seal Programme and Gender Equality Standards by working together on projects and initiatives that aim to enhance the capabilities of women in the financial sector.
"It is a pleasure for us to have Women in Finance Rwanda as one of our partners. It will bring more finance institutions to the Gender Equality Seal Certification Programme, we intend to work together to build a responsive working environment" said Chief Gender Monitor Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine.
According to Mrs Lina Mukashyaka Higiro, the Chairperson of Women In Finance Rwanda said that "It is a significant step for us to work with GMO in promoting gender accountability to gender equality in our finance sector. It is time to end sexual harassment in the workplace and fight GBV and all related injustices”

The Government of Rwanda established the Gender Monitoring Office through the Constitution of 2003 revised in 2015, with a mandate to monitor the respect of Gender Equality principles, promote gender accountability at all levels and fight against Gender Based Violence and related injustices.
Affiliated to the Office of the Prime Minister, the Gender Monitoring Office is established by the law No 51/2007 0f 20/09/2007 which determines its responsibilities, organization and functioning.
