GMO signs MoU with Trocaire Rwanda to enhance Gender Accountability
Gender Monitoring Office has on Wednesday, 28th August 2024 signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trocaire/ Rwanda to enhance accountability for gender equality and improve GBV service delivery.
The signing of this MoU took place at the Gender Monitoring Office and was attended by Chief Gender Monitor Mrs Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine, Country Director of Trocaire/Rwanda Mrs Marleen Masclee, Deputy Chief Gender Monitor Mr. RURIHOSE Florien and MUKANDASIRA Caritas and participants from both institutions.
Through the signed MoU, both institutions committed to advancing Gender Accountability through financing for gender equality, coaching, and monitoring of Gender Budget Statements (GBS), Capacity development on Gender budgeting, accountability towards Gender equality, and GBV service delivery, conducting dialogues on gender accountability and gender financing initiatives enhanced through media engagements, Provision of counselling and legal aid services to Victims of Gender Based Violence and teenage mothers in particular and psycho-social reintegration. Advocate for teen mothers’ school reintegration through supporting and empowering their families and initiate and support the gender-responsive village model in Trocaire’s target areas of intervention.
"It's a pleasure to work with Trocaire in this coming three years. The last three years resulted in tangible achievements and we intend to continue together in promoting gender accountability to gender equality at all levels" said Chief Gender Monitor UMUTONI Gatsinzi Nadine during the ceremony.
According to Mrs Marleen MASCLEE, the Country Director of Trocaire, promoting gender equality and fighting GBV is breaking down barriers. "We’re working together to break down barriers, enhance gender accountability for gender equality and drive transformative change for both women and men”

The Government of Rwanda established the Gender Monitoring Office through the Constitution of 2003 revised in 2015, with a mandate to monitor the respect of Gender Equality principles, promote gender accountability at all levels and fight against Gender Based Violence and related injustices.
Affiliated to the Office of the Prime Minister, the Gender Monitoring Office is established by the law No 51/2007 0f 20/09/2007 which determines its responsibilities, organization and functioning.
