GMO engages Civil Society Organizations on the Gender Equality Seal for CSOs In Rwanda
Kigali, 26th February 2026, The Gender Monitoring Office (GMO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, Rwanda Standards Board, Rwanda Governance Board, UNDP Rwanda, and the Civil Society Platform Rwanda, convened Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from across the country to introduce the Gender Equality Seal for CSOs in Rwanda.

The workshop brought together diverse CSOs with the aim of strengthening their understanding of the Gender Equality Seal framework and reinforcing their critical role in advancing gender-responsive and transformative programming. Discussions focused on institutionalizing gender equality within organizational systems, promoting inclusive leadership, and fostering safe, equitable, and conducive working environments.
In her remarks, Chief Gender Monitor Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine emphasized the importance of embedding gender equality within institutions:
“Gender equality becomes sustainable when it is institutionalized at all levels. Through the Gender Equality Seal for CSOs, we are strengthening accountability and accelerating transformative results for all Rwandans.”

Participants engaged in interactive discussions on strengthening internal policies, enhancing gender-responsive service delivery, and building inclusive organizational cultures that reflect national and international commitments to gender equality. The Gender Equality Seal was highlighted as a strategic tool to promote accountability, measure progress, and drive continuous improvement within CSOs.
In her closing remarks, KAZAIRE Judith, Head of the Civil Society & Political Organizations Department at the Rwanda Governance Board, underscored the indispensable role of CSOs in advancing gender equality. She called upon all CSOs to embrace the Gender Equality Seal as a practical and impactful mechanism for ensuring measurable results and sustained progress.

The workshop reaffirmed a shared commitment among stakeholders to institutionalize gender equality across civil society structures. Through collective action and strengthened accountability mechanisms, partners aim to accelerate sustainable change and ensure that no one is left behind.
