Bugesera District, 5h August 2026 – The Gender Monitoring Office (GMO), in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), has launched a three-day  Gender Management Information System (GMIS) testing Workshop in Nyamata, Bugesera District. The workshop, running from 3–6 August 2026, brings together district statisticians , technical experts and stakeholders across the country to test and validate the Gender Management Information System before its rollout.

The workshop aims to assess the functionality of the GMIS, identify technical and operational improvements, and strengthen participants' capacity to effectively generate, manage, and utilize gender-responsive data for evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and decision-making.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Deputy Chief Gender Monitor RURIHOSE H Florien emphasized the importance of reliable and timely gender data in promoting accountability and advancing gender equality. He noted that the Gender Management Information System will enhance the collection, analysis, and reporting of gender-related information, enabling institutions to make informed decisions and monitor progress toward national gender equality commitments.

The workshop also provides participants with an opportunity to validate the system's performance, identify areas for improvement, and share practical feedback to ensure the platform effectively responds to users' needs at both national and decentralized levels.
Through this collaboration, GMO and IPA reaffirm their commitment to strengthening gender data systems and promoting evidence-based governance. A robust Gender Management Information System will contribute to improved planning, enhanced monitoring of gender equality outcomes, and more responsive public service delivery in Rwanda.
The GMIS represents an important step toward strengthening data-driven gender accountability by equipping institutions with reliable information to inform policies and programmes that leave no one behind.
