The Gender Monitoring Office (GMO) on Monday this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ActionAid Rwanda that aims to jointly work together promte gender equality, prevent and respond to Gender Based Violence, especially teenage pregnancy in the Rwandan community.
The signed MoU provides a framework of working relationship between parties whose main objective is to enhance accountability to gender equality and service delivery to GBV, Human Trafficking and child abuse victims across District levels, without leaving any one behind.

In her address during the signing, the Country Director of ActionAid Josephine Uwamariya said signing the MoU with GMO is a great milestone that adds more efforts to their work towards contributing to building a safe family, where both men and women are proudly to live.

‘This MoU will help us to foster our existing partnership with GMO in contributing to the promotion of gender equality and women empowerment. As civil society, we are very proud to contribute to the development of the country and well being of its people,’ said Uwamariya.
Both institutions formally agree to work in partnership and mutual support to ensure that policy and legal frameworks on the respect of gender equality principles and on fighting GBV in particular are achieved at national and decentralized levels.

Key points stipulated in the signed MoU
The signed MoU aims to among others:

• Provide needed technical support to GMO and avail best practices or approaches for effective delivery on gender accountability.
• Support GMO to conduct Gender accountability Dialogues, GBV and Human Trafficking clinics with communities to foster a great understanding of gender equality and pertaining issues.
• Share information, evidence with disaggregated data related to gender equality and GBV that can help GMO in its objective of being a hub of information and documentation on gender equality.
• Contribute as appropriate to the management of Gender Information Management System initiated and coordinated by Gender Monitoring Office. 
• In partnership with GMO, support teen mothers and victims of GBV and human trafficking and their families through, various forms of empowerment, psychosocial, legal aid, and reintegration as well as mentorship programs.
• Promote quality of public education for the victims of GBV and Human Trafficking girls as drivers of change
• Strengthen collaboration with different partners including religious institutions on promoting gender equality principles in fighting gender-based violence with special focus on young girls
• Contribute to the advancing of political influence and social justice, and to the promotion of gender accountability and transparency in all interventions.
