Gender Monitoring Office hosts delegation from Tchad’s National Institute of Statistics

Kigali, August 25, 2025 – The Gender Monitoring Office (GMO) today welcomed a delegation from Institut National de la Statistique, des Études Économiques et Démographiques (INSEED) of the Republic of Tchad. The visit formed part of a wider study mission organized in collaboration with Rwanda Cooperation, aimed at sharing Rwanda’s experience in the digitalization of statistical production and the integration of gender principles into national data systems.

We are pleased to share Rwanda’s journey in mainstreaming gender into statistics and to exchange with our colleagues from Tchad on how collaboration can accelerate progress towards equality.” said RURIHOSE Florien, Deputy Chief Gender Monitor

The Tchadian delegation, composed of eight members led by MOYALBAYE GOTOMON, Conseiller Technique auprès de la Direction Générale de l'Institut National de la Statistique, des Études Économiques et Démographiques (INSEED)-TCHAD , expressed a strong interest in learning from Rwanda’s innovative approaches in gender-responsive statistics. They also explored opportunities for fostering long-term collaboration between the two institutions.


“We are impressed by Rwanda’s commitment to integrating gender into its statistical systems. The lessons shared by GMO will greatly inform our efforts in Chad as we strengthen gender data production and ensure that equality remains at the center of our national development agenda.” said  MOYALBAYE GOTOMON, Technical Advisor and Representative of the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics, Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED) of The Republic of Tchad.

During the session, discussions centered on:
•The process of conducting research based on statistics in the framework of gender mainstreaming and equality.
•GMO’s role as a reference point for information and documentation on gender equality.
•The key tools, technologies, and IT infrastructure supporting gender data collection and dissemination.
•Collaboration mechanisms between GMO and the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), highlighting achievements, lessons learned, and good practices.


The courtesy call is part of the delegation’s study visit to Rwanda, which runs from 17th to 27th August 2025. In addition to GMO, the team will engage with several national institutions including the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), the Local Administrative Entities Development Agency (LODA), the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), and the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC).
