The activities for the Gender Accountability Day campaign continue in Gicumbi district in efforts to institutionalize gender accountability at decentralized levels as per the objective of the Gender Accountability Day initiative.

The Gender Accountability Day was initiated by Gender Monitoring Office in 2017, as a mechanism to institutionalize gender accountability and promote effective service delivery in fighting gender-based violence at community level.

Gender Accountability Day activities conducted in Gicumbi district include legalization of marriages for families that have been living in illegal marriage, registration of children that were not registered in civil registration books and dialogues with community leaders and service providers at community level on their role in promoting gender accountability and fighting gender-based violence.

Other forums organized as part of GAD activities in Gicumbi district include dialogues with teen mothers, their parents and service providers to discuss on issues they face and how they can be reintegrated.
